Well it's been a busy couple of months as ever! We took a short break from the building work to get the harvest in. Gareth is pleased with his wheat yield and I am pleased with all the lovely straw it produced. In between the harvest and the autumn work on the farm Gareth has managed to lay the entire concrete base for the stables entirely by himself that's quite some feat as it's huge. He has begun to lay the base for the barn and the stables start arriving this week. It will be amazing to see them start going up everything so far has been time consuming ground work but things will really start to happen now.
Millie and I have been out and about quite a bit. We had a trip to Sissons farm for some evening show jumping in preparation for Frickley BE it was a vile wet night but I was really pleased with her as she jumped 2 lovely clear rounds. The morning of Frickley dawned wet and miserable I listened to the rain hammering on the roof as I plaited and definitely questioned my sanity. Things were not helped when Millie snatched away while having her stud holes cleaned and snapped the tap off in the hole! Thankfully Gareth managed to get it out but I could have done without the stress. The rain stopped at Newark and by the time we got half way up the A1 the sun came out. It was a lovely friendly event, the going was perfect and the cross country course was lovely. Millie enjoyed the show jumping rather too much and got very strong and flat resulting in 3 down which was a shame as I was pleased with a 35 dressage and she flew round the cross country. One day we will get it all right on the same day! We finished the eventing season at Norton Disney a couple of weeks ago. I was convinced it would be abandoned as the weather was so bad in the build up but again the going was perfect. A very spooky horse resulted in a 43 dressage and 8 faults show jumping but again she flew round the cross country making it feel very easy. We will be spending the winter doing lots of show jumping ready for our BE100 debut next season.
Keep an eye on our facebook this month as I will post photos of the stables as they go up.
